Three Dog Night

So it has been several weeks since Melissa brought the little terrorist into MY house. Of course I am referring to "Spooner" my new cousin. He comes over once in awhile and plays with my toys, eats my food, chews on my rawhide bones, pees on my carpet and sits on the laps of those whose laps I sleep on.

What is up with this?

A couple weeks ago, he was trying to get my attention by jumping on my face. He bit my nose ( yeah, by accident ). Anyhow, I walked around looking like Rudolf for about a week.

OK... I have to admit he is pretty cute. ( he looks so much like me!) Anyhow, he is coming over tonight along with my other cousin Duke. It's going to be a Three Dog Night!

Jim's Letter to President Elect Obama

Jim sent a letter to President Elect Obama. I'm just a 5 pound dog, but it makes sense to me so I am throwing my support to Jim's idea by publishing the letter on my blog. ( I hope he appreciates it.)

I am just an average guy. I tend to think logically.

Regarding the economic bailout...

Instead of sending billions of dollars to the banks and companies that created this mess why don't we do something to help the citizen victims and really make a difference?

A government voucher for $100,000 redeemable at any US banking institution or US franchised auto dealer would do more for the economy than sending billions directly to the banks and carmakers.

Here is what I mean. We can't just send checks to the citizens. That type of assistance merely causes prices to increase. We could however send a government-backed voucher that could only be redeemed for debt settlement at a US bank or for the purchase of a new US built vehicle. ( Auto makers would have to agree to a three-year price freeze in order for their cars to be eligible for purchase under this plan.)

The results: most mortgage foreclosures would be solved. The auto industry would start moving cars again. As goes the auto industry so goes every other industry. Jobs would be re-created. With people working, they would start spending money again on goods and services. The entire economy would benefit and benefit quickly. Would this cause inflation? Probably. However, inflation with a working population is better than having company after company close its doors and tens of thousands of people unemployed and losing their homes.

Where would the money come from? From the same place the current bailout funds are coming from.

This last election was won on a promise of change. How about backing something that truly is a different way of thinking?

I await your thoughts. \

Of Puppies and Presidents

Well, that wasn't so bad.

Jim drove off to Angola, Indiana yesterday and came back with a new puppy. He's a dorkie, like me. His name is Spooner, named after Arthur Spooner on "The King of Queens". Luckly, he is going to be living with Melissa and is not a threat to my queendom. I have to admit though he is pretty cute and I think it will be fun when we he gets a little older and can visit once in awhile.

Lately, I've been spending lots of time with Grandma W. Evidently she fell and broke her arm. After surgery, she couldn't take care of herself so she is living with us. I have to watch her all day. I decided that since I have to watch her all day, I would take advantage of the situation and sleep under her blanket. That way, I am close by in case she needs me, but I still get to nap about 80% of the time.

I am very anxious for the presidential election to end. I am quite tired of hearing about Obama and McCain. Neither one of them have said anything about how they will improve the lives of dogs! All I know, is that if taxes go up, I don't get to have as much fun. (it's that trickle down effect thing).

So tonight, it is all about watching Ohio State pummel Penn State. I'll be glued to the LCD panel.

meanwhile...

I'm back again!

OK... so it has been over a year since my last post. I have been one very busy dog. We have had ducks, chipmunks, moles, fish, frogs, & bunnies in our yard. I am constantly on watch for these interlopers.

Meanwhile, Tim moved out and after he left, he adopted a jack-russell named Duke. So now I have a cousin who visits occassionally.

The upcoming election has me baffled. I will most likely write in Snoopy for President. I think it is time that this nation gives a k-9 a chance to prove himself.

Grandma W fell and broke her arm a few weeks ago and has moved in with us. So I am busy taking care of her all day as well.

Earlier in the day, I overheard that Melissa is adopting a puppy ( another Dorkie ) like me. I will probably put on a little stuck up act at first, but like with Duke, I will enjoy his occasional visits, as long as he doesn't try to eat my treats.

So when the new pup arrives, I will post a picture of my new cousin...

but for now,

Man's Best Friend Is Color Blind

I was about to pee on a newspaper the other day when I noticed a story about a painting that had been removed from the Cleveland Clinic. Evidently the painting was titled "My Home Town". It was painted by an African-American artist from Cleveland. The painting depicted two large gatherings of people. One on either side of a river ( the Cuyahoga no doubt). On one side of the river the faces were mostly dark with an occassional white face interspersed. On the other side of the river the faces were mostly white with an occassional dark face interspersed. In the middel was a bridge with people of each color co-mingling and crossing to the respective "other side".

This is actually a pretty accurate representation of Cleveland's population. Yet, the humans that make decisions of consequence on such matters, decided that the painting was racist.

Look again people, the painting is representative of Cleveland and many other large metropolitan areas in this country. The painting is not a racist statement, merely a statement.

I'm just a dog... a little dog. There is a large golden retriever across the street. If someone painted a picture showing a little dog on one side of the street and big dog on the other side of the street, it would be an accurate representation of a truth, not a statement in favor of or in disfavor of small dogs or large dogs.

I wonder if the humans would be better off recognizing truth and working to change the truth rather than covering or avoiding it. Cleveland Clinic... put the painting back up!

What do I know? I'm just a dog.

Still Special

I am an official breed!

Ever since they brought me home Jim and Robin have referred to me as a "Dorkie" because I am part mini-dachsund and part yorkie. WELL>>> a few days ago, while googling, I discovered at least three breeders that are purposely mixing mini-d's and yorkies and have officially named the offspring; Dorkies.

So, while I am not as unique as we previously thought, it is good to know that my special disposition and appearance are appreciated enough that others are duplicating me.

Long live the Dorkies!

I have returned to the blog!

Bow. Summer is almost over. It's Labor Day, and I haven't posted all summer.

I've been on countless walks around the block and through the park. I've been on a couple car trips, visited Melissa in Cleveland Heights a couple times, and even went to Grandma & Grandpa's house on Edgerton Road. I went swimming once ( didn't like it), and have watched this year's fish grow from 1" to HUGE!

On a sad note, my frog friend died about a month ago. I found him laying in the rocks along side the pond. But shortly thereafter, I found 5 bunnies living in the garden.

Jim is starting a new company and is working out of the house full-time now, so I don't have to spend too much time in my crate. I do think I finally have that "no peeing in the house" thing down. We'll see what happens when the weather turns.

Meanwhile, I am trying to keep up on news events and hope to begin commenting again on a regular basis.

For today however...
